The culinary contest “El nuevo Chef” was launched in 2016 with the purpose of boosting the young and new emerging gastronomic talent in the city of Mexicali, Baja California. The challenge was to design an award that will be the icon of the contest over the years.

The design reflects the main elements of the contest. The sand base represents the desert, while the upper metallic dome symbolizes the sun completely covering the desert ground. At the top there is a fork, characteristic symbol of food. An invitation to try new proposals and diversity of dishes that can be found in Mexicali.
